VLCi Impulse
'Impulso VLCi' is one of the beneficiary projects of the Second Call for Smart Cities of the Digital Agenda for Spain of Red.es, an entity under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, which is part of the National Plan for Smart Territories. Red.es (with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF) is providing 4.2 million euros, and the remaining 1.8 million euros are to be paid by the city council.
The "Impulso VLCi" initiative, with a total investment of 6 million euros, aims to develop intelligent management tools, the installation of sensors to control the waste collection, intelligent lighting, and water management.
The Impulse VLCi initiative includes 17 projects that promote Valencia as a smart city. The Smart City Office will coordinate the projects with the different Municipal Services.
In practice, the development of Impulse VLCi will improve the services that affect the daily lives of residents and visitors in different areas: mobility, sanitation, environment, tourism... among others.
The Impulse VLCi initiative brings together the efforts and resources of 17 activities framed in 5 areas:
