Vilnius European Green Capital 2025
Vilnius takes over from Valencia as the European Green Capital 2025, a recognition that rewards its commitment to sustainability and urban transformation. The Lithuanian city assumes this prestigious title with the goal of continuing progress in ecological transition and serving as a model for other European cities.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Councillor for Climate and Energy, Carlos Mundina; the Coordinator of European Projects and Urban Strategies at València Clima i Energia, Alejandro Gómez; and the Director General of Valencia European Green Capital 2024, Antonio García Celda.
As the first Mediterranean city to receive this distinction, Valencia celebrates the beginning of a new chapter where Vilnius will lead sustainable initiatives, strengthening the shared commitment of European cities to a greener future.
