Connecta VLCi: 194 smart buildings and municipal facilities - Smart City - València

Connecta VLCi: Smart Buildings

Connecta VLCi is one of the eight beneficiary projects of the Call for Smart Building Pilots of Red.es, an entity under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, which is part of the National Plan for Smart Territories. Red.es (with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF) will pay 2.5 million euros, and the remaining 2.5 million euros will be paid by the city council.

The Connecta VLCi Initiative, with a total investment of 5 million euros, aims to provide 194 buildings with intelligence to offer new services to citizens and improve sustainability and municipal efficiency.

The VLCi platform will collect real-time and historical data from 58 sports facilities, 22 municipal museums, 16 markets and 98 municipally managed schools.

All these municipal spaces will be equipped with internal and external environmental sensors to monitor air and light pollution, temperature, humidity, etc.; energy and water consumption sensors will also be installed to ensure energy efficiency and economic savings. In addition, presence detectors and devices for capacity control and management will be installed, as well as other devices such as water quality controllers, heating and cooling equipment controllers and lighting controllers.

To improve security and provide optimum communication between the devices and the central servers of the City Council, the installation of fiber optics in several buildings is planned to be extended.

The project includes several applications to offer new services to citizens such as an App that centralizes the reservation of all municipal sports facilities, another that will provide all the information of the city's museums, including guided tours inside the museum and dynamic visualization of content, an App that will allow knowing the capacity in the markets and the offers offered by the stores and another that will enable environmental awareness for the entire educational community.

The initiative will also allow the connection and exchange of information between the VLCi city platform and the information systems of the airport, the port and the train stations of Valencia, offering new services and information of interest to all citizens and visitors to the city.
